Before you subscribe or buy a ticket
Confirm the exact plan and viewing deadline before subscribing. A Japanese IP does not include a FOD membership or make an event part of a standard plan.
How to connect with a Japanese IP
For services and uses permitted by the provider, the connection process is:
- Review JapanVPN plans and sign into your account if you choose to proceed.
- Use the installation instructions for an available JapanVPN client and connect to Japan.
- Confirm that your public IP location appears in Japan using an independent IP location checker. The app’s connected state alone does not prove the streaming service accepts your location.
- Open FOD and follow its current account, device and playback instructions.
- If playback fails, check current compatibility and the troubleshooting advice below.
Why a Japanese connection may still be rejected
Streaming services can identify VPN or datacenter IP ranges. Acceptance can differ between connections and change over time. DNS or device-location inconsistencies can also produce a region error. A Japanese IP changes the apparent network location; it does not supply a subscription, payment eligibility or viewing rights.
Troubleshooting FOD
Check whether the failed item is a free episode, premium program or separately sold event. An expired free window or wrong plan can look like an access problem even when the network is connected.
Confirm the VPN is connected, restart the app or browser, then reconnect once. If unrelated sites also fail, investigate the connection first. If playback alone fails, review the compatibility guidance and contact support with the error text and device type.

Check FOD’s current supported-device guidance before installing. JapanVPN’s available desktop releases are listed on the download page. Streaming-app support on a phone or TV does not establish JapanVPN support on that device.
