Can you use ABEMA outside Japan?
ABEMA combines scheduled channels and on-demand programs with paid plans and separately ticketed events. Access to a channel does not establish access to a particular replay or PPV event.
ABEMA’s official help permits access in some overseas regions, with country and program exceptions. VPN viewing is outside its recommended environment. Do not treat the entire platform as Japan-only.

Before you subscribe or buy a ticket
For a live event, inspect the event’s permitted countries, start time in Japan Standard Time and replay deadline before purchasing. A regular subscription may not include the ticket.
How to connect with a Japanese IP
For services and uses permitted by the provider, the connection process is:
- Review JapanVPN plans and sign into your account if you choose to proceed.
- Use the installation instructions for an available JapanVPN client and connect to Japan.
- Confirm that your public IP location appears in Japan using an independent IP location checker. The app’s connected state alone does not prove the streaming service accepts your location.
- Open ABEMA and follow its current account, device and playback instructions.

Why a Japanese connection may still be rejected
Streaming services can identify VPN or datacenter IP ranges. Acceptance can differ between connections and change over time. DNS or device-location inconsistencies can also produce a region error. A Japanese IP changes the apparent network location; it does not supply a subscription, payment eligibility or viewing rights.
Troubleshooting ABEMA
Compare the exact program with another available program. A title-specific failure may be a rights or ticket issue rather than a broken VPN. Keep the event name and error message when asking support.
Confirm the VPN is connected, restart the app or browser, then reconnect once. If unrelated sites also fail, investigate the connection first. If playback alone fails, review the compatibility guidance and contact support with the error text and device type.
